Events of Note:

  • Wednesday, 9/11, Coptic New Year (Feast of Nayrous)
    • As Americans 9/11 is a day of solemn remembrance for those who died at the hands of bigots but as Copts it is a day of celebration marking the start of our New Year based on our Liturgical Calendar.  While the two occasions might seem contradictory, they in fact are not.

    • Since the reign in 284 A.D. of Roman Emperor Diocletian, Copts have been mercilessly persecuted, abused, tortured, and martyred by many rulers and leaders of Egypt.  Our Coptic year is thus identified by the abbreviation A.M. for Anno Martyrum or "Year of the Martyrs".  As such on our Feast Day, we always express two thoughts: thanksgiving for a blessed new year, and honor to the millions of martyrs who have stood and confessed their unyielding faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, even unto death.

    • On 9/11, we pray that bigotry will find no shelter and flag to rally under, and that God’s grace and love will continue to spread and bear fruit in all corners of humanity.

  • Saturday, 9/21, & Sunday, 9/22, Annual Church Bazaar Festival:  11:30 am - 6:00 pm
  • Friday, 9/27, thru Sunday, 9/29, Feast of the Cross
